[Waverley ARS] Group buy of some coax

Hi Texx / Adam,

Typically the RG213 and Belden type 9913 are UV stable as are the LL400
(Benelec Version) LMR 400 (Times Microwave) style cables. The original
LMR series are promoted by the original manufacturer Times Microwave as
suitable for Outdoor use. The biggest problem normally is waterproofing
the connectors. It is critical that self amalgamating tape is used over
all outdoor exposed terminations. The foam low loss cable is better at
stopping any water transfer through the cable air space cable if it
springs a leak will fill with water through the cable over long periods
of time. Normally the termination is the most vulnerable assuming you
don't have pesky cockatoos in the area.

The jacket on the LL400 is PE Poly Urethane and is a lot tougher than
the NCPVC used on the RG213 and 9913 cables, so I am interested in
Texx's experience.

Hi Texx,

Good question, I hadn't thought of the weather on my feed line (only the
antenna).

David says the foam LL400 stands up better than the semi-air against
ingress water - though he didn't mention if it's UV protected or fine
for outdoors. Given the much higher cost, I'm not going to worry about
it, because I can't afford the LL400, though it's something I am going
to research for the Belden 9913 and RG-213 cables.

I'm hoping they will be OK, but David, if you're reading this, can you
comment as to whether it will weather the weather?
