[Waverley ARS] USyd Scientists say chip may speed up internet 100 times

Hi list,

Here's an article where some tech heads at University of Sydney have
developed a chip that may give us Internet access 100 times faster. It's
for switching light over fibre optic paths and most of us have copper into
the home so I'm having trouble seeing direct a benefit for home users,
though indirectly at the telco's this sounds to be a massive boost.
