Simon - Daniel - Eric - and all
Whether badges are obtained from Eric (when available) or ex Ebay (as per
Daniel) or home-brew (easily done) - I think we should always wear them at
Club meetings especially now that there are several new members and we
expect to get more. We do not want to risk a cliquish atmosphere where newer
members could have any feeling of being on the outer. At present I think we
are very friendly to new members but knowing and remembering their names can
still be an issue.......
Also I think the reception of new members could usefully be a bit more of an
event. Whoever introduces them should give some background info and the
newcomer should be invited to tell us a little about him/her self and why
they came into ham radio. This would all help mixing and sociability and
would also let us know if some useful expertise is being introduced..
Perhaps some simple certificate and a name badge could be issued..
Let me say I am not at all keen on ritual, ceremony. or formality but I am
keen on lots of goodwill and fellowship........
Anyway - just some late night musings for the Club Committee to consider.
