[Waverley ARS] El cheapo 240

Hi all,

I don't think the club should buy a generator at this stage, if at all.
Several members have one already and more than one is probably needed on
full-on field days. The upcoming John Moyle contest at Cataract will give us
the experience required to make a good judgement call on this and other
subjects.

Just my tuppence worth.

(I note that Grant was just alerting members to the upcoming special, not
advocating the club should buy one.)

On the other hand club usage is likely to be less than 24 hours per year,
whilst the more expensive ones might be expected to last for a 6 months
round Oz trip at 6 hours per night! Not sure how many extras are needed (eg
fuel container) and how many 12v rigs can be supplied (60 amps output?)
though it many help to use 240v to prevent long cable runs dropping the
voltage. Maybe those who have used similar units might comment on features
needed and sound levels. Enough members may own similar generators to
provide for club needs.
