Hi Edwin,

That one should be fine. If memory serves the original ones were 400 or
500mA. When I got our VK6 & VX7's, I left the chargers in Macau and got the
small switchmode ones available from Jaycar and they work admirably and are
small and light, to boot. Also great fro traveling as they can take a very
wide input voltage.

I just received a Yaesu VX-5R second hand. It did not come with a stock 
charger, but does have a Dick Smith's wall wart power supply, 12v 500mA.

Does anyone know the charging requirements of the VX-5R or the specs for 
the stock Yaesu charger?
