For the first time in recent memory, our club is going to run a full-scale field-day station for the John Moyle Contest coming up on the weekend of March 15-16.
Thanks to the efforts of VK2s TUI and FALN, we have secured a large campsite at Cataract Scout Camp, complete with sleeping hut and facilities.
This is going to be great fun and a great challenge - operation has to be self-sufficient power-wise and that means generators, batteries, whatever, plus erecting our antennae on the spot.
For us to have a decent contest score, we are going to need plenty of volunteers as we intend to run as many bands and modes as possible.
If you are available for all or some of the weekend and would like to be a part of it, please contact me or Alan VK2FALN.
As we will be operating under the club call sign VK2BV, all grades of licence (including F calls) can take part.
Hopefully someone might like to be appointed catering chief (chef!); or if you have preference/expertise in VHF/UHF/6M etc there will be plenty of room and contest points to be gained.
We have a planning meeting next weekend, so please let us know soon if you're in! Contest experience not necessary - you will be a veteran by the Sunday...
