I have finally completed the Lighthouse QSL cards and RD contest logs after our very busy August.

Lighthouse Day on 18 August produced 45 contacts, mostly on 40 metres. DX conditions were somewhat tough but at least we were reasonably comfortable in our new Gazebo. Thanks to all who took part in making it an enjoyable day. Without singling anyone out, I would like to single out Tony VK2FREL and Lyn VK2FLTJ who did most of the operating and Daniel VK2FDGW who provided all of the chocolate cake! Once again we were lucky to have a friendly neighbour provide 240v. Jack VK2TRF made a new two-way 2.4GHz ATV contact with VK2GG at Norah Head and we had several successful QSOs with lighthouses from Cooktown to Wellington. The full log will be available for inspection in the clubroom.

The all-night RD Contest over the weekend of 11/12 August turned out to be a splendid co-operative effort by many club members. We claimed a score of 185 points from contacts made on 160, 80, 40 and 20 metres using two operating radios under the club callsign. We used the off-centre fed dipole as well as a vertical clamped to the scout flagpole, which gave us some much needed height. The dipole was on the whole disappointing and I hope we can rework our antennae before any further contesting at the clubhouse. Operators over the 24 hours were: Brad VK2CEC, Alan VK2TUI, Tony VK2FREL, Adam VK2FNRD, Allan VK2FALN, Daniel VK2FDGW, Lyn VK2FLTJ, Saxon VK2FXEN, Paul VK2TXR and me. The team was suitably providored by VK2FALN. Congratulations to all for taking part...we look forward to more adventures! Once again the log will be available in the clubroom.
