Thanks all for your ideas.  This is at least a good starting point for
further research.  I'm sure I can turn this over (and over) for a few
months before making a decision.

Hi Henrik,
 
I too use the paper log mostly.
 
Most of the contesters use N1MM logger (freeware http://www.n1mm.com) or
Write Log http://writelog.com (you have to pay).

I have used N1MM logger and yet to master it. We can send automated CW
(eg. CQ call) and
if you configure it properly, I believe we can make a CQ call in phone
mode as well.
