The heavy VX plug pack arrangement is no real problem for me as it sits
in the shack, same with that for my FT530, which uses an old laptop
supply since the original batteries were replaced with Li-ion. I use
either set, depending on the situation - the FT for wandering around the
house or where more power is needed and the VX for short range portable
work (eg Wyong field day). Most of my overnight travelling is done in
countries where handies are either illegal or can't readily be used due
to language problems. Both models may be unfamiliar to our newer members
as they are around 10 years old, but still give good service.
