Hi Daniel
It looks a nice set if you can afford the car or motorbike to go with
it. But for use as a home station, its a bit too limited unless you have
enough money for an HF rig as well. I would have thought a better choice
would be something like a secondhand IC706 MkII which in addition gives
you all mode on 2m/70cm and covers all HF amateur and broadcast bands
for not much more than the price for this new one. If you have HF, then
a secondhand dual bander might be better value and give you more modes.
I think until you really know where your operating interests lie it is
best to buy cheaper used gear that gives you a wider choice of modes and
bands. You also lose less when you trade up later on, for example when
you have your own car.
