Hi everyone
As some of you know, at the Wednesday night meeting, a number of people
were going to organise a 'standard license upgrade' study group.
The idea is for foundation licensees to study for the standard upgrade
via the radioelectronicschool.net CDROM self study course, alongside a
group co-ordinated study program and group practical workshops at the
club. From memory, Mathias volunteered to be the co-ordinator.
I mentioned on the night that there is a new National acreditation in
competency for operating an amateur station. This is a Nationally
Recognised Certificate (ie the same status as a TAFE certificate) which
can be applied and assessed for upon attaining the standard or advanced
license. It is administered by Trainsafe Australia (ie the WIA's Fred
Swainston VK3DAC) and there is an administrative cost of $80.
This is so new that it has yet to be announced (it will next week), but
Fred has asked me to pass this onto the group. I will pass on full
details when I receive them from Fred.
regards
Edwin
