Why?
Use an Echolink system.  It is much more versatile - run it on an old 
PIII with Windows.  Connect  it up through a homebrewed interface ($20) 
to an old radio like an FM900 ($100).  That's if you want to run an RF 
system and not just use it directly on the PC.
