Good day had by all, usual chin wagging but only two coffee breaks due to tasks on hand. The second coffee break also had apple pie and cream provided by our club gardener VK2FLTJ "Thank you Lyn"
1.
Alan, Raffy, Eddie & Grant discussed in detail arrangements for the upcoming auction. Some concern was expressed re the lack of response from the scouts on the matter of tables. Grant approached the RSL who will kindly lend us some 6 long tables and if we want to purchase same, can do so at $20.00ea
2. Some time as spent by all sorting through the donated equipment and determining what equipment would go to auction. At the moment we have 15 transceivers, 12 items under the catagory test equipment, 13 SWR/Power Meters, 3 Receivers, 1 Power Supply, 2 TNC's, 2 Linear Amps, 1 keyer, 1 filter, 1 speech enhancer, 2 co-ax switches, and 2 antenna tunners. This is what has been catalogued to date.
3. Raffy successfully obtained a new PO Box at Rosebay Postoffice the number has been advised to members by Raffy under seperate cover.
4. Tony VK2FREL spent some time coaching Lyn in the use of the new club vaccuum cleaner donated by Henry VK2RE "Thanks Henry". The instruction paid particular attention on how to vaccuum the carpet correctly and the proper use of the tool head provided. I noted also Tony passed on some valuable knowledge to Lyn on how to connect the hoses together at one stage I think this included the use of the ultimate tool the hammer. "Thank you Tony"
5. Laurie and I spent some time discussing the possibility of constructing a temporary 160 Meter antenna for the 160m Trans-Tasman phone contest on the evening of the 7th of July. It has been suggested that the construction of a vertical be one option the other being a 160m loop. No doubt further discussion on this issue will occur over the next week. We also decided to load up the clubs off centre fed dipole on 160m and arranged with Jim VK2JA for a trial contact on 1.845Mhz USB when he went home. We can report the OFC dipoled load up ok and we had a contact between the club station and Jim on 1.845Mhz.
6. Eddie, Eric and I tested out all of the transceivers that will be going to auction to determine there operating frequencies and power out status. We can report that all equipment tested out successfully.
I am sure I have missed some activities such as instruction in the art of watch repair given to Henry by Neville.
I apologise for any other items I have missed
73's and Thanks to all
Alan VK2TUI
