[Waverley ARS] Lighthouse Weekend and RD Contest

These two big events are coming up soon so its time to get organised!

Remembrance Day Contest Sat/Sun Aug 11/12

There has been quite a bit of interest since our recent Trans Tasman 160M contest efforts and a number of club members have suggested we have a go at this one. The current proposal is that we man the clubroom on Saturday evening, say till midnight, then resume Sunday, say 7am. The actual times might have to depend on how many operators we have. 

Those who have done the contest before feel it wouldn't be worthwhile staying all night (...brrr!). We can use all non WARC bands including VHF, and max power. Full rules:  http://www.wia.org.au/contests/rd/RD_2007_%20Rules_01_07_07.pdf   

As before, the plan is to set up an operating roster, so please email me if you'd like to take part or help out. 

Lighthouse Weekend Sat Aug 18

We will again be activating Macquarie Lighthouse this year. Current plans are to operate on the Saturday only, though if there is enough interest, we could also do the Hornby Light at Watson's Bay as we did last year.

Since the committee has authorised purchase of a "gazebo" tent, we hope to be in some comfort out of the wind, too!

As these events work more smoothly when we have an operating roster, so again please indicate if you plan to be there.

(That doesn't mean to say that you just can't turn up of course. The more people that show up, the more fun is generally had by all). 
We also need help erecting antennas & tent, log-keeping, band-spotting, public relations, refreshments etc etc

"F" calls can take part in both these operations as we will be using the club callsign VK2BV under full-call "supervision".

We can no doubt discuss further on the Monday net (8.00pm on the 2M repeater)
