[Waverley ARS] HAREC / CEPT TR 61-01 / 61-02 Licensing

Has anybody tried to get one of the Harmonised Amateur Radio Examination
Certificates for the purposes of travel around Europe / The Rest of The
World?

I notice New Zealand are members as a non CEPT country, as well as Hong
Kong and Israel. I wonder why we aren't?

I'm currently faced with 2 weeks travel in Germany + Israel at the end
of the month and it would be nice if Australia also took part in the
CEPT TR 61-01 or 61-02 recommendation so I don't need to apply for two
licenses for this two week period. Especially given how government
departments are known for their efficiency, I'll be lucky if the first
one will arrive at my hotel when I land back home.

When I contacted, IARC (The Israeli version of WIA) they said I wouldn't
need to apply for a license, just to bring my Aussie one and prefix my
call with 4X/ (so if there is some *very very* bizarre tropo happening
you might hear me call "4X/VK2FNRD/P Herzilya" on 2M); however I'm not
so sure; I think I will need to follow the guide as on the VK2BV site.

73 + Thanks in advance,

Adam
