[Waverley ARS] RE- ISP bandwidth

Just beware Eddie;

*if you go VOIP with TPG you MUST purchase one of their VOIP modems when you
sign up and monthly payments by CC no DD
*if you have any problems, their help desk are 'script-jockeys'
[Although there is an alternate way of getting help from within Australia
;-) ]

You might also want to find out your distance from the exchange and quality
of service before you get too excited over speed. I'm 2.8 klms from exchange
so the maximum _theoretical_ speed is 9mbit but do I not achieve anywhere
near that (thanks testra for crappy lines and pits that fill with water when
it rains).
A case here of sacrificing speed for a stable connection.

Having said all that, I've been on ADSL2+ 30gig since July last year with
TPG without too many dramas.

Thanks Simon for recommendations and Binu for testing site.

I have Bigpond Cable, did the test and got 598/114 Kb/s and latency
of 229ms from Palo Alto CA. Got 470/118 and Latency 169ms from NY on
Good Friday.

Pay $57 per month (with 10% discount with phone) for 10Gig
(unlimited) with shaping down to 56kb when over ; one email and an
additional @ $1 per month. Pay for upload and download combined.

Seems ADSL 2 much better performance per buck and TPG better ISP.

Don't have Optus and thinking of going TPG ADSL2 and VOIP phone.

Any other comments.
