I thought most WARS members would be interested in this.

There is a race condition bug with windows update. If you are using "Install
updates on Shutdown" on any of your machines please choose another option.

This bug can cause serious grief (see quote below) so please attend to this
at your earliest convenience.

"The effects vary from machine to machine: sometimes a mere
error-event-log message, sometimes a dialogue box which prevents that
shutdown, sometimes Office stops working and requires a reinstall, and
sometimes the machine completely, irreparably, irrevocably dies."
