MINUTES: Bi-Monthly Formal Meeting: 15 March 2006 CHAIR: Eric VK2VE
Meeting Opened: 19:33 ATTENDANCE: As per Page # 64 of the
Attendance Book.
APOLOGIES: Richard VK2XRC, Colin VK2LV, Derek VK2JAF, Doug VK2IMI, Mark
VK2KQ, Grant VK2TU and Binu VK2BNG
VISITORS: Terry Leeder VK2FREY with new members Mathias Burbach and
Edwin Lowe. Edwin now has his Foundation Licence, callsign VK2FEHL.
(PS:- as of 5/4/06 he now also has his Standard Licence callsign
VK2VEL).
ACCEPTANCE of previous minutes (Jan 06): Moved by Brad VK2LR, Seconded
by Norm VK2AIW. All were in favour.
BUSINESS ARISING:
1. A Laptop Computer was offered by Saxon VK2FXEN for use at the Antenna
Project Day.
CORRESPONDENCE IN: (1) Minutes of ARNSW Council Meeting 18 Nov 2005 -
to be circulated by e-mail.
(2) Email advising 22 Jul 06 as date of Hamfest 2006 of the Gippsland
Gate Radio & Electronics Club Inc. -Noted. Full information is
available on the WIA website.
(3) Email from ARNSW Clubs advising schedules for AX3MCG/GAMES
Where-When - to be noted.
(4) Australia Post Mailbox renewal notice and bill, $60.00.

CORRESPONDENCE OUT: (1) Thank you letter to Janet & Simon Buxton ?
Christmas Party at their place. (2) Email from Simon VK2UA to ARNSW
advising 24/6/06 as Annual Auction date.

TREASURERS REPORT: Approx $3,936 bank balance at this time. The WIA
Public Liability Insurance bill for $187.85 has been paid bringing our
cover up to 1 April 2007. We sent National WIA a list of our 46 WARS
members, they confirmed 23 of our members are National WIA members so
we, as a club, get to pay $1.52 for coverage of each of our non-WIA
members, on top of a base premium of $152.72. = $10,000,000 cover!
The rental the club facilities is $850 per year that we pay quarterly.
This is covered by our current subscriptions and profit from the auction
sale. We are in a sound financial position

GENERAL BUSINESS:
1. Our next Foundation licence course is planned for weekend of 8th &
9th of April 2006. A roster of people to lecture on the subjects is
required. We have seven starters for the allocated of subjects.
2. The John Moyle Memorial Field Day, next weekend 18/19 March 2006.
Brad to set-up at 10:00 on the reserve at the end of Dover Road, Dover
Heights. Club station VK2BV will not be in operation.
3. What the scouts are doing about the hall renovations. The small rooms
and dens are gone from the hall. There will be a kitchen within the
main hall and also facilities within our club area.
4. Fix a date for the WARS AGM. It will be at the May 2006 meeting on
17 May 2006.
5. Brief report on last project days experiments with WiFi paths,
towards getting a free data /internet signals into our clubhouse. Tried
path with ATV signal but had problems with interference from a local 3G
tower. To be continued when a suitable filter and equipment is
available.
6. Eric suggests that the club offers to purchase a fridge for upstairs
as a contribution towards the kitchen area. This was agreed in
principle, to be Item of Business at next meeting. Moved by Bob VK2SOB,
seconded by Michael VK2HMR, 7 to 6 were in favour.
7. Appointment of a lecture officer responsible for arranging lecturers
for our meetings. Eddie Hanham VK2BEH has accepted the post. Three
items have been suggested.
8. Who is going to be involved in the Moon-Bounce project - Eddie to
co-ordinate plans with David Benchoam, Sean Neyton and other interested
parties.
9. Following Brads email about Jaycar Power supplies, Eric suggests that
we get a couple for the club at less than the RRP. Available in
5/10/20/30A versions. One 30 amp version to be purchased for the Club
at less than $154.16. Proposal moved by Bob VK2SOB, seconded by Raffy
VK2RF, all were in favour.
10. Andy Thomas lecture at University of Sydney, Great Hall. Jim VK2JA
gave a report of impressions of this encounter.
11. Discussion of the activities at the Antenna Project Day next
Saturday 1st April 2006.
12. Simon reported on the solution of problems experienced by four
members receiving Club e-mails.
