Hi All
 
At the last monthly meeting I lobbied for our members to join the WIA (National).
 
I reminded members of the importance of the WIA

    * in representing ALL VK amateurs (whether members or not) in all issues  relating to government powers and authority, including licensing, spectrum allocation, RFI (including BPL), , emergency services, general public relations, support on local government issues about antenna installations, etc. etc.
    * contests and awards
    * monthly publication for Members of "Amateur Radio" (now the only radio magazine published in VK)
    * operation of national QSL bureau
    * representation at IARU and other international radio and communications organisations
    * presentation of weekly news bulletins for broadcast
    * maintenance of a comprehensive website at www.wia.org.au with current news items
    * various member services, eg visitors licences, overseas travellers licence information
    * bookshop
    * and much much more.

A major recent achievement has been the introduction of the very successful Foundation Licence and the superb Manual to assist candidates.
 
Nearly all the work is done by dedicated volunteers (with a small energetic office staff) and on a very limited budget because of the comparatively modest membership base.
 
So join now !!  And give something  back by supporting it !!
