Hi Brad, Colin and David,

Thanks for taking the time and trouble to comment on my email.

Offence was not the intent, and I hope none was taken.

I take the point that David has made a significant contribution to the club,
and I sincerely applaud him for this.

The point I was trying to make, and it appears that I could have expressed
it better, is that in a public forum such as this site, I am of the view
that it is appropriate to advertise. If one is going to offer advice,
particularly to young new members, it should be technically correct if
possible, but more importantly, it should be impartial and balanced.

I belong to several other technical special interest groups, and an email
along the lines of David's would have attracted strong criticism. Just a few
words to present a balanced perspective is all that was lacking, in my view.

Now if other club members disagree with this viewpoint, so be it.
