Hi folks

So far so good with Lighthouse Day activities.

HORNBY: The plan is to get started about 8.30 am on the Saturday (August 19) in the car park at Camp Cove for those who want to make an early start. There appear to be no parking restrictions there so we should be OK for all day. We will need to back-pack the gear to the lighthouse site - about 10 minutes up an easy path. There are a few steps though, so a trolley might not be all that practical.
We have the co-operation of the Parks & Wildlife people who are going to lend us some 240V. The planned setup is a power supply, 706IIG, ATU & dipole off a fibreglass mast. It would be great if someone would like to bring at least one other rig & maybe a vertical antenna of some sort. In fact any kind of gear will be good! Brad VK2LR has some band-pass filters so we hope to be able to try at least two bands at once. We'll need some help carrying the gear as, at this point (unless Alan VK2TUI strikes lucky), we cannot get a vehicle through the Navy base. We'd also need to take a table and chairs, esky etc.

MACQUARIE: Sunday (August 20) again an early start (8.30) as the official open day starts at 10am. The Harbour Trust has confirmed they will provide us with a tent/marquee & will be promoting our participation in their advertisements (See next week's SMH). Hopefully there will be a good roll-up of members as we can expect plenty of interest from the public. Please bring whatever rigs/gear etc you can as it will add to the impression we make and no doubt will be fun for the rest of us, too! Again we hope to "borrow" some 240V for the day & put up a dipole mast or two. Can we provide some hand-outs about the club/ham radio/foundation licencing etc?

ATV record attempt. We have "booked" a time slot in the lighthouse for Jack VK2TRF's long-distance experiment.

ROSTER: Could all those interested please let me know roughly what times and days you will be available - especially for ferrying gear in and out? We'll try to get a loose operating roster together & no doubt amend it as we go. Judging by the last few years, we should probably wrap up about 5pm. If you're not sure, just turn up!

LIGHTHOUSE NET: There is another sked planned for Friday at 7.00pm on the club 2M repeater to discuss arrangements & suggestions. Please check in to say hello.

So far the "definite" crew is:

Daniel VK2DGW
Alan VK2TUI
Paul VK2HXR
Brad VK2LR
Laurie VK2JAH
